What time does the Splash Dash start?
The Event Village opens at 12noon and the Splash Dash starts at 1pm!
How far is the Splash Dash?
The Splash Dash is 5K in distance, but this event is not about distance or time - is it about having fun with friends and family while getting messy and supporting your local children's hospice!
Do I have to run or can I walk?
You certainly don’t have to run! The Splash Dash can be ran, walked, danced, skipped or space-hopped - just make sure you don't rush and you have a great time!!
Is the Splash Dash timed?
The Splash Dash is not a timed event.
Can I run with my dog?
Unfortunately dogs cannot participate in this event.
What is in the powdered paint?
The Splash Dash powder paint is non-toxic, 100% safe and biodegradable. It is technically edible, although we do not advise that you eat it as it’s not very tasty! If you have a skin allergy or respiratory condition we would recommend that you don’t take part or that you consult your doctor for advice.
What happens with the paint during the event?
The paint will only be thrown in our designated Paint Stations by trained paint throwers. The paint will be aimed onto the body of the runners rather than the face to reduce the amount of paint getting into the mouth, nose and eyes. You will inevitably get some paint on your head/face.
Do the ‘Paint Stations’ affect runner vision? Or breathing?
The Splash Dash explosions are 100% natural and SAFE. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes and our official paint throwers make sure to aim low as you pass by. You may like to wear glasses or goggles to protect your eyes and a bandana to cover your mouth, but this is not essential. You can purchase Splash Dash glasses when you sign up, and there will also be a great range of merchandise to buy on the day!
Does the paint harm the environment?
The paint is 100% natural and water soluble and will not cause any damage to the environment. We will have a clean-up team in place to remove the paint on the ground after the event.
What should I wear and will it get ruined?
Come along wearing a shiny white t-shirt (and running gear you don’t mind getting messy). So long as it’s white so you can see the multi-colours in all their splendour at the end. Well-fitting trainers are recommended but please don’t wear your expensive ones as they will end up every colour of the rainbow. The coloured pigment should wash out of most fabrics but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting stained. After testing the paint, we know that white is never white again after being pelted with powdered paint. The paint is water soluble so you can wash the clothes as normal, but avoid washing it with nice clothes. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. You can also purchase a special Splash Dash t-shirt when you sign up!
How do we get clean again after the run?
At the finish line we will have cleaning stations so that you can give yourself a good dusting off to remove most of the powder. You won’t be 100% clean but you will be able to remove most of the paint. We recommend that you leave a towel in your car to cover your seat or spare clothes to put on top of your running gear to ensure you get as little paint as possible on your seat. Claire House Children’s Hospice cannot be held responsible for any damage or paint getting on participants vehicles, public transport or private property.
Will you have changing rooms or storage?
There will be no facilities of this nature at the event site so please arrive with limited personal belongings or leave them with friends/family who are coming to watch.
Are cameras and phones safe to have in the Paint Stations?
Claire House will have photographers taking photos on the day. If you want to get shots right in the midst of the action we recommend that you have a sufficient cover on your phone / camera or purchase a disposable camera.
Can spectators attend?
Absolutely! We will have some stalls and entertainment throughout the day – the only thing we cannot guarantee is that spectators will stay clean. A running hug from your participating loved one could turn you into human rainbow too!
If I can’t take part now, can I give my place to a friend?
Unfortunately, your place is non-transferable and non-refundable. If you cannot now take part please let us know.
When will I receive my Splash Dash Pack?
Participants will receive their Splash Dash Packs as and when they sign up, and these will include your official Splash Dash number and everything that you need to know about the day.
